Continuation of 1.3

Communications specialists provide the following support:

Assisting in the preparation of a health sector information management and communication strategy consistent with the situation.
Promoting, facilitating, and/or producing information resources for the sector’s response activities and for health promotion.
Preparing and coordinating the dissemination of information on preventive measures as well as other key public health messages on the emergency.
Advising health ministry officials on managing communications and on effective relations with the communications media.
Connecting with any national and international communications media covering the situation, and facilitating relations with them.
Preparing and distributing press releases, handling requests for information from the communications media, and ensuring that key messages receive coverage and are disseminated.
Monitoring media coverage of the situation, and providing appropriate information when the messages reaching the public do not reflect the reality of the emergency or may create confusion.
Producing and disseminating photographs, maps, charts, videos, press reports, etc. that document the impact of the emergency and the effect of the response measures implemented by the health sector.
